Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR)*
This is an agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services. It was formed in 1989 in recognition of the following fact; our health care system doesn't respond quickly enough to a growing knowledge base of credible information. This agency was established under Public Law 101-239, "to enhance the quality, appropriateness, and effectiveness of health care services and access to these services."
In their Clinical Practice Guidelines, No. 14 entitled Acute Low Back Problems in Adults (1994) an independent panel of various treating doctors and other experts used scientific methods and expert judgment to develop specific statements on acute low back problems in adults. This 160-page publication represents exhaustive study and analysis of the best research information available; "The guideline reflects the state of knowledge, current at the time of publication."
This panel of expert researchers "support the use of chiropractic for acute low back pain".
